2015 Global Responsibility Report

Today marks the 45th year General Mills has shared a Global Responsibility Report with its stakeholders and the community.

The 2015 report outlines our company’s approach to creating economic, environmental and social value in the countries where we operate. As in years past, we continue to take steps to increase transparency regarding our progress and challenges in the areas most material to our business and our communities.

“We’ve made significant progress on a number of fronts in the last year and are excited about our current momentum,” says Jerry Lynch, vice president and chief sustainability officer. “And, we know there is still much to be done. This work is an integral part of our long-term business strategy and an important expression of our mission of Nourishing Lives. For these reasons, we are committed to doing more.”

I am very pleased with the 2015 Global Sustainability Report from General Mills. It assures us that a company with over 5 billion USD towards it ingredients sourcing has come to a place of recognizing its potential for serious impact on the sustainability of the planet. Having helped co-create the GRI Food Processors Sector Supplement guidance information I can share that the complexity of this reporting will be unnoticed and more so under-appreciated by most – except for the savvy stakeholders (Ceres, GRI, et al). Hence – I congratulate the energy that continues to emanate from the General Mills associates responsible for ensuring that one of the top ten food companies has the authenticity and veracity to report on these topics essential to a healthy planet. Thank you General Mills for living up to your promise for true Food Safety, Food Security, and Food Sovereignty as you Nourish Lives and Nourish the planet’s future!
